Maisha Lounge Vol. 1 is the first release in a new series of albums with Swahili lounge music. The album is a mix of chilled out electronic beats and synths, blended with traditional Tanzanian instruments such as Ngoma, Chalimba, Zeze and Marimba. Maisha Lounge Vol. 1 features well-known Tanzanian artist from very different Tanzanian music styles, such as Bongo Flava, Reggae, Hip Hop, Taraab and traditional music. Be careful with what you say or do. Never treat other people in a way you do not want to be treated since today it may be them but tomorrow it may be you. This song is partly in Swahili and partly in Maa the Masai language, since Carola Kinasha is Masai by tribe. Carola Kinasha's band 'Shada' was founded in the late 80'ies with the aim of creating an authentic Tanzanian sound. Predictions of the foreseer
Are you ready to step down from the throne, so that a new king can take over? This is how Hardmad sings about the community needing the right leadership. He also urges self reflection from the leaders, due to loss of values and corrupt politicians. Hardmad is a well known artist at the Tanzanian Bongo Flava scene. His style is a mix of reggae, dancehall, Afro-pop & R'n'B. An energetic entertainer who is capable of singing in a hard raspy tone as well as a more smooth voice. My Eyes Are Laughing
My eyes are laughing while my heart is crying. Macho Yanacheka is a classic hit both on Zanzibar and the rest of the East African coast, the Swahili coast. The song is a sad story of a woman who lost her lover, who was taken by someone else. Shakila is one of the Divas of the Taraab, which is the traditional music from Zanzibar mixing arabic melodies and instruments with the swahili language and culture. I Can't Live
I have nothing against them, why are they following us. I just can not live without him... The song explains a lover`s commitment to a relationship, despite being discouraged by words of others who are trying to break it. Ray C successfully mixes her african roots with arabic and indian music styles and this have made her vocal expression very unique. You Will Kill The Game
You cannot call yourself the best just because radio and TV are giving you more promo than the rest. FID Q criticizes part of the local music industry for not being fair. Fid Q is one of the most popular and respected rappers in Tanzania. He is about to release a new album and is a highly used artist in collaborations with other Tanzanian and East African rappers and singers. Conflict In The Jungle
This song is an abstract story of the conflict between humans and animals. Lufu gives his version of the troubles of human movement into animal territory and global issues such as deforestation. Lufu is an underground rapper who has been on the Tanzanian Hip Hop scene for many years. He has done collaborations with a number of other rappers and singers, lately with M1 from the american Hip Hop group Dead Prez. We must not forget our origins and where we came from. Mzawose urges people not to be exploited by globalization and forget their roots. Mzawose (Msafiri Zawose) is one of the leading artists of the traditional Wagogo style in Tanzania. Wagogo became "world famous" when Mzawose's late father Hukwe Zawose performed all over the world and did recordings with Peter Gabriel's record label Real World. My child, your mouth is something to be very careful with. Use it to talk truth and sweet language, although bad people will hate you for that. What you will need to watch out is you anger. Misoji won the competition Bongo Star Search in 2008 which is the Tanzanian version of Idols and is one of the shooting stars in the Tanzanian music industry. This song is a praise to a beautiful girlfriend for standing strong in a relationship. Lord Eyes also describes the sexy beauty of this girl as being supernatural. Lord Eyes is a part of the hard core Hip Hop group Nako 2 Nako Soldiers. Nako 2 Nako was formed in Arusha in 1998. After this they have as a group achieved big popularity at the Tanzanian Hip Hop scene. Lord Eyes has also done a solo album called "Mchezo Umekwisha".
